Canal trip from Baltic to Med?

Been doing some day dream and googling.......

I know if you are in the Mediterranean, you can drop the mast and cruise the French canals all the way to Paris and the English Channel. Been a dream of mine I hope to do in 2019-20.

Cruising the Baltic looks cool, and cruising to Russia would be WOW! COOL!

So, from the looks of things you can drop the mast again, and canal cruise from the Baltic to the Black and/or Mediterranean?

Anyone know of anyone who has done this, or found any better guides or websites?

I have found a few websites showing bits and pieces.

Re: Canal trip from Baltic to Med?

Hi OR, at least one Finnish couple have done the trip from the Baltic to black sea via inland waterways (Rhine-Danube I guess) on a Grand Banks 36. They have a website, but it's in German: Mit der Motoryacht um Europa - M/Y RUMBALOTTE

Lots of info there.

Bill and Laurel Cooper went via inland waterways to the Black Sea, transitting the Danube during some politically unstable times.

I think he's talking about the route thru Russia. I know I read of someone doing it but I seem to recall while a great trip, lots of beaurocracy.

mydoramac.com took the mast off a Diesel Duck and did canals and rivers from Netherlands to Turkey.

Re: Canal trip from Baltic to Med?

You can get from the French canals side inland to Berlin. I am not sure how you go from Berlin. Another canal may take you to the Oder river (?) or else North to somewhere close to the Kiel one.

Here's a very good guide to help you get started, I've spent more than a couple of evenings browsing this one...

Euromapping : European Waterways map & directory, 4th ed.
