Best EU departure port for UK/Thames

We are about to leave Eindhoven NL and slowly make our way to the coast. Any thoughts on the best port to wait a good weather window. This is my wifes first sea voyage so we are prepared to wait for ideal conditions to the Thames. Therefore the departure port should be affordable if we are alongside and have some interest. This is supposed to be enjoyable after all.It does not have to be a NL port either. Mast is currently down and easy to raise ( love that )

Suggest you mae your way to Vlissigen. Wait for an apropriate weather window and head for Ramsgate. Then via the Prince's Channel to the Queenborough in the Medway. Then it's easy to time your run up the Thames with the tide. Have no dealings with the Gore/Four Fathoms Channel. It's very shallow and poorly marked and it only saves you a couple of miles. Not for nothing is it known as 'the overland route'.

Alternatives include Roompotsluis to the Orwell. (I did this in reverse last week). Or head further down the coast to Oostende before making your crossing.

Thanks, I like the Vlissingen idea. Looks like an OK spot to wait.
