Berthing in Amsterdam

Any tips?

We've had a glorious Netherlands cruise this year, dawdling in the Ijsselmeer, and now getting ready to cross the narrow part of the North Sea back to blighty. But first, a couple of days in the capital.

Any tips? I've never stopped in Amsterdam before. The much-lauded Sixhaven apparently can't take boats over 15 meters, so that is out. The new and large City Marina is not really our style. I guess there's no place to anchor? Is it possible to tie up in one of the canals? Any nice small yacht club which takes visitors?

Grateful as always for tips and local knowledge!

Not only that, but there's a boat show going on, so no places!

Re: Berthing in Amsterdam

Yes the HISWA starts at 29. Aug.

Durgerdam may be to undeep for you, but you could ask.
WSV Durgerdam | Welkom in de haven van Durgerdam (Tel: +31 (0)614750510)

The Buiten-IJ area may not be deep enough for you to anchor.
I have never seen a boat for anchor in Amsterdam itself.

Otherwise consider IJmuidem seaport marina, Monickendam, Muiden, Uitdam.
The Netherlands is not that big.
