Anyone Wintering / Living in Samos

If there are anyone around based Samos who can give me tips on places to go for find sail makers, chandlers and any other marine services it will be greatly appreciated.

And if you are down there especially in December I'd love to make contact with people. Ill be keeping my boat in the marina near Pythagoreio.

Hello
I'm keeping my boat at the same marina.
Just ask in marina for Gloria and Dragan. They run a family business (chandlery, repairs, gardiennage etc.) Both are of Serbian origin, and they are extremely helpful with arranging any things there. For some years of using the marina as a place for witerization I learned to arrange literally everything through Gloria and Dragan, as they are trustworthy and reliable - what is not always the case when dealing with Greek people
I will be not there in December, but I hope we can have a beer or two together in the spring.

Thomas

I found the mobile numbers for Dragan and Gloria.

+306986164763 - Gloria
+306951813715 - Gloria
+306951813716 - Dragan

e-mail: avalon7@otenet.gr

In December probably it will be easier to call or e-mail them, than looking around the rather sleepy marina.

You can tell/write them that You get their number/e-mail from Thomas - s/y "Rita"

Bets regards

The avatar is just a photo of polish destroyer from WWII.
Name Blyskawica was to difficult to brits, so they called her Doublewhisky.
The ship - veteran of many war actions - is now a museum in Gdynia harbour. I like this ship very much, and took my nick and avatar from her

User "Istioploos" on the Cruising Wiki is in Samos now - till the end of October. He has a house there and keeps his boat there, spending 6 months of the year in Greece and 6 months back in Washington, DC.

Get in touch with him - see "Personal Notes" at the bottom of the Cruising Wiki's Samos page: Samos - a Cruising Guide on the World Cruising and Sailing Wiki

Good luck.

I appreciate a lot Samos marina as a visitor, but for what you are asking for, it seems to me that Kusadasi marina would be of greater help : you have sailmakers there and all the marine services you need. In Samos, they are very kindly and can arrange e few reparations but not more.
If you want to winter absolutely in Greece, Leros would be better.
