American Buying Boat and Sailing Adriatic-Advice?

HELLO ALL,
IM AM INTERESTED IN BUYING A RELATIVLY CHEAP USED SAILBOAT SOMEWHERE IN THE ADRIATIC WITH THE INTENTION OF DOING A BIT OF CRUISING.

IM WONDERING IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER AMERICANS THAT HAVE DONE THIS AS I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE HURDLES FOR A U.S. BUYING AND SAILING A BOAT IN FOREIGN WATER?

ANY THOUGHTS ON MY IDEA OR PERSONAL STORIES OR ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY APPREICATED.

Yes there are many "relatively cheap sailboats" in the Med including the adriatic ( which is a big big place).

there is no particular hurdles other then those associated with buying any used boat. Theres no particular issues legal wise of tax wise either

So yes go do it, depending on what you regard as "cheap" your quest may take time and will require you to visit to see these boats ( mind you thats not a hardship). You will find that many sales agents will not carry on detailed discussion by email if their written english isn't good. They will talk over the phone though.


other then that its a very general question the OP has posted . what specific issues are of concern.
