Any Key West members got a minute?
I’m up in Massachusetts and found this boat on yachtworld. I’ve asked the broker several questions about her and he just refers me back to the add. Which makes me think he either doesn’t know or doesn’t want to answer. The ship is called Dances with Dragons and is a 58ft camper and Nicholson. The add says currently in Key West. Has anyone actually seen/ looked at this boat or know the owner?

Re: Any Key West members got a minute?
Yes we have seen her... He just left Mexico about 2 weeks ago. It was docked next to us.
Boat looks in good shape, no detail inspections.
I question the 58 ft, if it is the same one we saw here, more like mid upper 40's. Unless he counts anything and everything at both ends
The one I saw had the name back on the sides with chinese characters.

Re: Any Key West members got a minute?
The story I hear was the owner shot and killed a pirate in Panama and then took off. I would stay away from Panama in that boat.

Wow Pirates in Panama! Must have been on the wrong side. Well if anyone has the time and inclination to go have a look at her I'd be interested in what you see. I'm not willing to buy an airline ticket on just an add...

I think it will be worth your while to look, or at least talk to him.
Very nice fellow... sorry do not have contact info, just met him for a couple of weeks.
He was looking for a crew for RTW and 2 days before he left put it up for sale??

Re: Any Key West members got a minute?
Sounds like the problem I had with a Fla broker. When I could not get a straight answer from him I made an offer on the boat through a North Carolina broker( No sales tax on used boat purchased in NC also). This really got the Fla broker pissed to have to share his commission but it was his own fault.

Key West is a hoot, you oughta just buy a ticket, check out the boat (assuming it's still there) and dine at Louie's Backyard and El Sibonney. The drive down the keys from Miami is worth the trip in of itself.

I agree with Boatman1. Any excuses to spend a little time in Key West is worth the time and cost.

Well worth it indeed. You can fly into Key West directly, tiny little airport, or fly in to Ft. Myers, Sarasota, Tampa, St. Pete and catch a ride to Ft Myers to the ferry. Any way you do it it worth the time. A fun adventure with an awesome ending.

Re: Any Key West members got a minute?
I agree with everything everyone has said here. Both about brokers and Key West. I know this broker may be busy have other more developed, pre-qualified potential buyers or may have another job that takes him away, so I try not to be too judgmental. I sold cars once in my life and my wife sold real estate so I get it...still....
Key West would be nice to visit, I just returned from overseas and have a few days leave so it is a possibilty. I was thinking about the rumor posted above. If that actually happened then this poor fellow my still be in shock and this for sale may just be an initial reaction to that trauma. The broker may be a friend and suspect this and could be letting this simmer a bit to make sure he really wants to sell. Just is a bad situation all around.

Re: the members who suggested going to Key West. I was born in Key West and lived there 43 years, so I know whereof I speak: If you like strictly a party town, and don't mind watching homosexuals of both genders holding hands and kissing on the streets, it's a good place for a quick visit.

Probably the right side. You are not going to get through the canal if you shot somebody on the other side.
This all might sound funny, but you better change the boat name if you try a RTW through Panama.
