here's a quick survey of the places you've been. Rate the places you've been and are familiar with for gunkholing. Chesapeake Water (clarity) 1 (only 1 ft clarity, digusting) Shoreline (nice, accessible) 2 almost all private harbors 8 (plenty of ready harbors) Activities 8 (many great locations to go ashore and do things) ScubaView 0 (no one would willingly dive the chesapeake for fun!) |

Here's one of my favorites... Mill Creek, off the Great Wicomico River, south of Smith Point in Virginia Fl R 4 sec 15ft 4M "2MC" entrance marker at 37 47.6' N / 76 17.78' Sheltered from weather in all directions, holding is excellent. Water is clean, but only 2-3 ft visibility Shoreline mostly wooded, with a few homes, very secluded and quiet Activities-none ashore. This is a place to relax by yourself or raft up with friends. A good stop-over anchorage on a trip up or down the Bay. |
