Look into Globalstar
1700 sat phone
, XGate and an Optimizer. You can get a limited data plan. Will cost you some money
, but not exorbitant. Your life is more valuable than what you will spend for this. You can connect through this at 38,000 baud. Slow, but good enough for grib files and checking out forecasts. Gribs will download to InavX
and give you simulated 3 hour looks. With that and Sailflow, you can keep up with changes. You are in hurricane
season and you must keep up with the weather
or you could get caught in one. They spawn in that area sometimes. I used it and it works. Takes some time, but when cruising, that's all you have is time.
You can also have someone on land watch out for you and call them on the Globalstar
Get Sailflow Pro and start studying weather now. If you have an IPad
, get INavX
. Both are pretty good I have found, but no forecast
is good for a week.
