Exuma charter options?

Hello all, this is my first post on this site. My wife and I cruised the ICW and Bahamas in '99-2000 in our Albin Vega "Monkey". We chartered with my parents through Sunsail in the BVI several years ago. Now, we're looking into another charter with my wife's sister and her husband.

We're thinking through our options and I'm wondering if I need to go with a big corporation like Sunsail or should I consider cruisers out there looking to host for a week.

Any ideas or recommendations? We like "Staniel Cay" a lot and I was wondering if anyone charters out of that area.

unfortunately I do not think there are any charters in the Exumas, others may know of one though.

dcreno...are you looking for a captained charter...how many guests and what lenghth of time/when. we have a 41 ft trawler available for captained charter in that area from march to july but max 2 guests. we do all cooking, etc and have been cruising the out islands for 15 yrs. plsadvise...thx

It's not the Exumas, but just wanted to make sure you were aware Sunsail, The Moorings and other smaller companies offer charters in the Abacos.

Hello Everyone, Does anyone know the length of time you can cruise in the Bahamas. I am told, the cruising permit is only good for 90 days......Is this correct??? Thanks for the reply.Jim

you can cruise in th e bahamas up to 8 mos. but you may have to renew your 90 day permit several times to do so..when you check i n you should DEMAND 6 mos at least and you'll probably get it..depends on the immigration officer

I know of a 47 ft catana catamaran that does captained charters down to the exumas from Nassau for 'very' reasonable rates. We did a week with that couple 3 years ago out of St Martin and highly recommend them...I still remember her meals!!! The captain crewed on a swiss team on what was know as the whitbread round the world race. Let me know if you want more info
