Thanks for that knowledge, guess that's why I have not been able to get an updated position for 3 days, hopefully shoes that he is moving then and not stationary

Malcolm, if you look up White Shadow on marinetraffic.com, it shows last position atLas Perlas, with a button saying updated position may be available via satellite, but that requires a $100+ per month subscription. Anybody know a site with sat data without subscription?
Anyway, forgot to mention that the Admiral and I were overjoyed to the point of tears with your news this morning!

We are also over the moon too, but won't celebrate til he is ashore with his first 🍺

Yes I took the marine traffic satellite option, but even so it is intermittent and I haven't been able to get an updated position for 4 days, unlike the coast guard and navy who obviously have better and more sensitive equipment. It was mentioned that the issue is that class b transponders on yachts are much more difficult for the satellite to pick up unless the target is fairly stationary. So I am reading that as being a hopeful sign that he is now moving much quicker. It would be good to know if his engine and main steering is functioning for the last and critical bit of getting to a safe anchorage

I know Barry will be so pleased and reassured by all the support and thoughts from so many.

He has now been in voice or text contact with his sister. Not sure of where that landfall is though, can't find him on AIS. If anyone does please post details

Thanks everyone for all your all your words of wisdom and experience

Great forum resource

Malcolm.
That's great news. Won't be long now until he has a cold one in his hand.

Marine traffic now showing him at 3.5 knots! I think Barry smelled the beer, put on his fins, jumped off the stern and started pushing!
Good timing, arriving in daylight.
