Re: Mantus Anchors

Hi Greg, how about some tests at 5:1 scope, most boats don't carry enough rode for more than this. Mostly this is the reccomended scope by your competition, also nominate the size of chain and all those details so we can compare apples with apples (if thats possible)

Do you only reccommend your anchor in Grass/mud / sand or can it handle rock etc

Re: Mantus Anchors

Interesting video.

I'm curious: I wonder about the range of force (lowest / highest) obtained with each anchor in each location. It would represent the amount of randomness in the test.

Another question. Were the values obtained when the anchors were holding, or dragging?

It would be great to post the full table of results here on CF or on your website.

Re: Mantus Anchors

Alain, the numbers recorded represent maximum resistance before anchors got loose. i.e Holding.
The results were pretty tight, give me a day or so and I will get the statistics to you.

Re: Mantus Anchors

Guys just wanted to share some more feedback on the Mantus Anchor...

"John Young
May 3 (1 day ago)

to me
Hi Greg,
We are in Georgetown Bahamas and headed for the Turks and Caicos tomorrow, just wanted to update that we LOVE THE ANCHOR and have named it Monte! Monte digs in hard every time we stop. We have not dragged once since we left Key west over a month ago and have anchored out all but about 5 days in some pretty tough conditions including a sleepless night at Allen Cay in the Exumas when the wind shifted from E to W and we knew Monte could not hold but he did.. We did have one instance where I let the chain out to fast and it got wrapped around the shank of the anchor and it never set but that was my fault! Anyway the Anchor, the Combo tool, the Chain hook and the bottle opener are all working perfectly for us.

Thanks for the great product,

John Young

Question Re: Mantus Anchors

Hey Greg,

I am in the market for an anchor. Am wavering between the Rocna and the Mantus. Deciding factor may be price, as I perceive few differences that matter to me.

I have a Gemini 105mc, will be using 1/4" chain, G4, as that is what existing windlass will pull.

What can you do for me on a 35lb galvanized. I will also want a chain hook, for my bridle.

Re: Mantus Anchors

OK guys this is a three part series, so be patient..... this is just the Part I
We went to Mexico..
We took with us Mantus, Rocna, Danforth, Lewmar Claw, Manson Supreme, Manson Boss and Delta
In this Video all anchors are pulled with 4:1 scope and there is 10 feet of chain at the end on the rode... All anchor are pulled with a Panga with two 115 hp outboards gradually increasing the throttle from idle (700) to 1200 rpm.
The Bottom here is Soft Sand so we came with the expectation that all anchors will work well......
