This French built yacht is a very fast cruising yacht. An Open 42 design was chosen for quicker passage making and to be able to run from bad weather. Construction features such as a crash box then a 3 cubic meter watertight compartment for sails and kit plus a similar watertight space at the stern of the yacht make her almost unsinkable.
When sailing this fast planing hull you will experience the same exhilarating pleasure as when holding the tiller of a light responsive sailing vessel and will be able to sail up to 15kts with wind from the beam to aft.
Accommodation:A good feeling of space, the galley and nav station both being generous in size. Two double cabins, fore and aft. Additional berths in the saloon if needed. The yacht has plenty of natural light and ventilation. Head: 1x manual.
Galley: Double stainless steel sink. Foot pumped fresh and salt water. Three burner gas stove and oven (2009). 100 litre fridge/freezer (220VAC)
Electrics & Batteries: AC system: 220VAC. 2X 'PM' 12v – 300. DC system: 12VDC provided by 2x deep cycle 6 volt batteries in series giving 200 amps and 1x engine starting battery (2018). DC charging from 2x 45 watt solar panels c/w controller and 1x Yanmar 55 amp alternator. 1x 40 Amp battery charger 220v-12v
Electronics & Navigation: Tacktick sailing instruments (2009) / Autohelm 400 tiller pilot plus Tacktick windvane / Simrad pilot / Radio Ocean RO1355 VHF radio / Hand held VHF / Furuno GP32 GPS / HF receiver / STECA PR 1515 solar charge controller (2011) / 12v Stereo CD system
Mast/Rigging: 15m 4/5 fractionally rigged, keel stepped mast. Swept back, triple spreader rig. Two part mainsail halyard
Sail Inventory: 1 x mainsail (slab reefed) / 1 x genoa / 1 x Solent jib (slab reefed and self tacking ) / 2 x spinnakers - 120 m2 and 80 m2
Deck Gear: 4 x Lewmar 40st winches / 2 x Lewmar 48 winches / Lewmar jammers / 2 x Contest compasses / Lewmar opening ports.
Safety Gear: 2 x adult automatic lifejackets / 1 x child automatic lifejacket / various other lifejackets / 1 x GME EPIRB (2009) / 1 x Liferaft (2009- checked in 2018)
1 x 2kg fire extinguisher / 2 x 1kg fire extinguishers / 1 x Manual bilge pump.
Dinghy: Arimar 3.1m Softline inflatable (2011) with Tohatsu 5hp outboard (2009)
Covers & awnings: Sunbrella cockpit & foredeck awnings (2009) PVC mainsail cover.
Anchoring : 1x Lewmar winch / 60 m x 8mm chain G80 (2018) and 30 m extra chain / 2 x 25 kg Britany anchor (Danforth type) / 25 mm docking lines
Extras:
Engine and gearbox manuals plus digital copies.
BEST FEATURES of this boat: A very open & spacious salon and open cockpit with large (3,5m wide) scoop type stern. A responsive vessel giving real pleasure in sailing.
The owner is about finished with a full refit: all systems were checked and upgraded, engine was checked and cleaned, the deck was just repainted, .a new main sail is to be fitted ... All systems are running well with the owner currently living onboard here in Malaysia. The boat is right now in a well protected marina .. free of any docking charges and right next to an inexpensive boatyard where any work could be easily and cheaply done. This great sailing craft is looking for the 'right' owner! Fast, sleek, in great condition
If you are interested, best is to come visit the vessel & check it out. Fly to Kota Kinabalu on Sabah (Borneo), Malaysia. The boat is located in Kudat, a short flight or 3h by road from Kota Kinabalu. Asking Price: 55,000 USD

Re: ULDB (Ultra Light Displacement Boat) Open 42 fast cruising yacht

Very interesting ship. Dont suppose you could post some more higher res pics by any chance, or maybe a video walkthru? Its tough getting a bearing on the interior, especially since its a custom layout.

Also 2 things about the construction:

What is the construction and condition of the hull? If its cored has there been a moisture test? No offense, but it seems that custom construction doesnt have the same track record as a similar vessel with 100+ models that are decades old. That is a worry for me.

And secondly, do you have any more info on the designer and where it was built? I googled the designer but did not find a ton of info.

Other than that, looks like a beautiful design, if everything checks out she looks to be a lot of fun out in the blue water. GL!
