Re: Seawind 24 Molds, Catamaran

A Gentleman in Sarasota had them, he said something about Seawind USA doing larger cats now ? . A friend picked them up to build a cat but doesn't have the time . I wanted to do a 30' streched wave piercer econo low hp power cat using part of the hull mold but won't have time for it untill next year as we are slammed with a project . The hull form looks great !

I have never seen a Seawind cat made in the states. I know they left Auss and manufacture off shore.. Could be same name different company.

Re: Seawind 24 Molds, Catamaran

Hull moulds are usually very rough on the outside and have attachments for standing or rotating. So those look like hull mouldings out of a mould to me. and thus have no manufacturing value.

As for turning them into a working vessel. probably more money and time than the finished product would be worth on the open market.

Same Seawind 24, designed in Aus by a guy called Chris Williams (not Scott Jutson as it says in Sailboat Data) who also designed the earlier Seawind 33 and a cruising open bridgedeck Seawind 31.
Don't know the full story but he took the Seawind 24 to USA and they went into production, as I have ads for them from an old US mag from the 90's, but I think the relationship fell apart and i don't think he saw any money from it. Last I heard he was developing a folding trailerable cat in Aus.
They are apparently great fun boats and I have heard of one that a young couple took from South Aus up the East coast up thru Indo and across the Indian Ocean!
