Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

Is this an extended Snowgoose 37 or a different hull? Seems like a good boat for the money

Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

The Prout 38 and the 45 were the last 2 models to get developed by the original Prout company in England but they still made the Escale 39 and the Snowgoose 37 at the same time. Perhaps having 3 different boats 1' in length apart might have been a factor in their demise. The most radical change was the dramatic shrinking of the really deep V in the bridgedeck. And like all Prouts this model had a somewhat narrow beam of only 17' 5". They said it was to facilitate getting into more standard slips. I think all the P38s were called "custom" because Prout was really good about letting you do your own thing in the build.

BTW The P45 was also built after the company's fall and possibly in South Africa.

But the cabin top looks more slab sided like a Snowgoose and not the 38s sleeker design.

Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

It is a custom build out of a 35 prout mold ; extended to 37.5, looking a lot like a Snowgoose.

Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

I see that now too. Perhaps they plopped a Snowgoose top on the early ones. The underside definitely looks like a 38.

Edit, I see the OP has just clarified this.

Matt
It is defiantly a Snowgoose base 37 base, nothing at all like the Prout 38 or the Broadblue 385 which are pretty much the same boats and a modern-ish design.

Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

I have lowered the price for this catamaran to 75000.
I don't know how to edit the original add.

Re: Prout custom catamaran 38

So I was curious about this configuration so I searched for similar, just to get an idea of the layout. (I'm not in the market to buy this boat though)

I found the Popyachts classified ad with tons of pics of your boat. You could add more pictures from that series to this thread to give others a better idea of this boat. The extension is worth a look.
