Re: Norseman 447

The 447 is a nice boat but it's at an age now where you could easily spend the selling price on making the necessary refits you'd need for cruising. If your plan is to go cruising it gets back to the old pay me now or pay me later and the later is usually much more expensive. Unless you are really skilled in boat refits and repairs I would suggest you pay a fair price for a really well kept example of this boat. You'll never find a lot of these on the market at any given time. Personally while I like the boat I'd try not to zero in on one boat type, especially one that wasn't built in high numbers.

Re: Norseman 447

Thanks on your thoughts bob
personally norseman 447 a good boat that is built well hence low maintenance
have seen it handle weather where as others have crucified the crew also perform in airs simillsr to lighter weight models
yes cost to have one in prestine shape is at a price
i aint worried bout the aircons fancy stuff like that you have to maintain replace etc where as im looking at a solidly built boat that will last another 30 odd years with no worries having first hand on these boats and with my previous experience i know this is the vessel of my choice hope to find one at a price i can afford

Re: Norseman 447

My brother owns a Norseman 447 that's completely equipped for offshore cruising and he has been considering listing it for sale. PM me for contact information.

Not a N447. However, some similarities, such as rig, speed, sailing well in all points. Very rtw worthy being built to an offshore standard (US designed and built too) and beefed up with a custom mast bracing system (seen in the links below). Hooked is a little beamier, shorter, deeper and lighter. She is sort of a combo of a Swan 42 and DP (Baltic) 42, sans teak decks. Also an aft cockpit, so although with an aft queen it's not CC style, more like a pullman, nice when at sea or rolly anchorage. Great open transom too - ideal for dinghy, marina stern boarding, swimming and safe mob retrieval.
Sistership, to my knowledge, has the longest running blog, taking 18yrs to lap and as of last month still winning regattas while cruising in their golden years.

Oh and now she is half the price of a 447 at $84,000.
