Manta 40/42 catamaran "Reach"

We have decided to sell Reach, a 1998 extended Manta 40/42, Hull #39. We are asking $265,000.

Reach has been extensively up-dated and maintained. We recently finished a two-year refit and were taking off for Central America and further long-term cruising when we found our plans changing. We had already left in December for the cruising, so Reach is literally ready to go because she has already left!

We are currently in the Bahamas, but heading back to the East Coast US. Reach could be delivered along the way, or later through negotiation.

Some upgrades and modifications to Reach (several unique):
▪ The fuel and water tanks have been replaced and designed and mounted to never cause trouble again.
▪ The sterns have been extended 27” following the Manta 42 lines. They were designed with a bit more volume and power than the 42, and the steps were designed to be much more useable than the 40 - one step was removed, the lower two steps lengthened, and all step heights were evened to be the same.
▪ The main beam and wing bulkheads were doubled in thickness and fully capped with fiberglass. This is a stiff boat.
▪ New standing rigging up-sized to 7/16”. The original T-ball fittings were removed and tangs were thru-fit and welded to take standard rigging toggle and eye fittings. All chain plates were replaced. Deployable intermediate stays were added with new deployable running backstays.
▪ New running rigging. All halyards (main, spare main, jib, spinnaker) are either Dyneema or Vectran. Reef lines are spectra.
▪ The Main and Jib are new made by Mack Sails. The Doyle Code 0 on a Facnor continuous furler is from 2008, but has only been used a few times.
▪ New mainsail and jib covers
▪ New larger and higher-performance elliptical rudders designed and professionally built by Foss Foam
▪ New 3-blade Flex-O-Fold props. Two spare 3-blade Volvo folding props with line cutters.
Saildrive main boot seals replaced last year, along with the prop shaft seals, and the input shaft seals. The prop shafts were sleeved.
▪ The front and rear engine crankshaft seals were replaced on both Volvo MD2030 engines.
▪ New engine mounts on engines
▪ New engine start batteries
▪ A serpentine belt kit is installed on the stbd engine with a 120A externally regulated alternator. The port alternator is a 60A and externally regulated
▪ New shift and throttle cables, and spare cables ran in place for quick connection/swap
▪ 30 gal/hr CruiseRO watermaker
▪ New Garhaur adjustable rigid boom vang with dyneema control line
▪ New 300’ Maggi G4 high test chain.
Current NMEA 2000 integrated electronics (all current equipment, some brand new) including Simrad autopilot and control head, (3) B&G multifunction instrument displays, Furuno chart plotter and 4kW radar, multiple GPS’s, Vesper AIS transponder and NMEA wifi server, Maretron ultrasonic wind, and depth and speed. The NMEA wifi server puts all of the instrument and navigation data on wifi for use on computers/tablets/phones - no wires and your choice of navigation apps!
▪ New OGM LED tricolor/anchor/strobe nav lights
▪ New Raritan Elegance fresh water electric heads with Smartflush controls in both heads. Both are also plumbed to use salt water if wanted.
▪ New freezer evaporator plate
▪ Recent full upholstery with Ultra Leather Brisa
▪ New 2018 Caribe dinghy with 20hp Suzuki electric start outboard.

Now other than all of that new or improved stuff, Reach also has:
▪ 5.5kW NextGen generator with 800hrs
▪ (2) 16,000 BTU air conditioners
▪ 3,000kW Victron inverter/charger (120A charger)
▪ 700 watts solar with a Morningstar MPPT controller (which is large enough to add another 400W of panels)
▪ (2) TV’s, one a smart TV. Both accept direct plug in of hard drives for movies.
▪ 55lb Rocna primary anchor and a spare aluminum Spade anchor sized as primary. Spare anchor is on 35’ stainless chain and 200’ of unused nylon brait.
ICOM 710 SSB with remote head, ICOM 130 tuner, 28’ Whip antenna, and Pactor 3 modem.
▪ Second SSG 235 tuner with long wire antenna. This was connected to a Kenwood HAM radio, but that radio is not working. All connections exist in place for plug and play with a new HAM radio.
▪ StrikeShield lightning protection system
▪ Standard Horizon VHF radio with AIS receive (backup to primary AIS transponder) and a remote cockpit mic. Spare VHF antenna.
▪ 360 gal/hr fuel polishing system with huge Racor 1000 filter and Reverso gear pump.
▪ Full Corian surfaces throughout with integral sinks
▪ Nidacore and fiberglass hard top with built-in rain catchment, full cockpit enclosure, and full cockpit sun shades

And much more stuff and spares that makes for a well equipped and comfortable cruising boat.

Beautiful boat. I know a lot of work went into it. Wish I was in the market now but I'm about a year out.
