Lavezzi 40 catamaran club

Membership Available in Cruising Catamaran Club based in Australia and the South Western Pacific Ocean.

We have discovered a better way to own a luxurious FP Lavezzi 40ft catamaran and to cruise Australia and the wonderful South Western Pacific Ocean! To reduce the large time commitment and expense of single ownership or avoid the commercial imperative and limitations of a syndicate, we formed a club of 8 committed members in 2012. We each usually cruise from between 4 weeks and 2 months (sometimes more!) each year in some of Australia's and the world's prime sailing areas. In the last three years we have cruised along Australia's East coast, including The Whitsundays, Lord Howe Island and Tasmania as well as New Caledonia, Vanuatu and New Zealand. Where we take our yacht next is up to us. It's been a fantastic way to experience the cruising life, develop skills and make new friends.

We are currently looking for a new member.

Membership price: $52,500 AUD.
Location: Australia & South-west Pacific.

For more information visit our website: evenkeels.org.au

Please note that some of the possible offshore passages we intend to make could include some relatively remote locations and therefore we would prefer expressions of interest from people with at least some coastal and preferably offshore sailing experience. However, we will consider expressions of interest from less experienced people who are willing to upgrade their skills.

There is currently one membership available in this unique cruising club. We are interested to hear from experienced sailors who are interested in cruising pristine locations in the South Pacific. Even Keels will be in and around Sydney this summer where it will be available for inspection.

Re: Lavezzi 40 catamaran club

We have recently lowered the price of 1/8 shares in our 2009 Lavezzi catamaran to $37,500 Australian per annum. If you're interested in sailing Australia and the Pacific at a very reasonable cost, please PM me or leave a comment.

This is a fantastic idea! Specially for such a vast cruising area. I'm most interested in the yearly payments without a initial buyin. Is the boat owned by the club or one of it's members or bought with a loan? I'm far from you sadly only interested in your economic/rules setup. good luck

The catamaran was bought outright by the club so no loan. Yearly payments are $4,500 Australian (about $3,400 US) for operating expenses - maintenance, insurance, upgrades etc. In addition, members pay in $2,325 ($ 1,800 US) to a depreciation fund which accumulates to allow the club to replace the yacht at some stage. It essentially protects the value of each member's share.

It is a great concept and works very well. I just got back from a three week cruise to Lord Howe Island which was fantastic and we are off to New Caledonia in a couple of weeks. So far we have members in Australia and New Zealand but nobody on the other side of the pond - yet.

Do all members cruise together at once? Or do members periodically get exclusive use of the boat for themselves and family + friends?

Yes, each member gets 4 weeks of exclusive use per year. Exclusive use can be taken in two separate installments of two weeks each, or in one 4-week block or some other combination. During this time, members can invite whoever they like. In addition, members can participate in club cruisers with other members which are typically used to move the yacht from summer cruising grounds to winter cruising grounds and vice versa. Depending on availability members can spend 2 to 4 weeks or even more on club cruises. It's a great way to get to know other members and to improve skills.
