Lagoon TPI 42 new engines 39hp each!

This is not and April fools $99000 only.
For sale a Lagoon TPI 42 ft, not to be confused with a Lagoon 42.
51 TPI's were built between 1992 and 1994. Production was stopped because they were too expensive to build for a yacht this size. They are exceptionally strong, sea kindly, fast cruising catamarans.
This one has newly refurbished engines, 39hp each which is much more than the standard 27hp. Engines are Yanmar 3JH5E. They have 0hrs.

There is a catch of course. The price is based on a quick sale, as is where is, for one month only so till the first of May.

She is located in St. Croix on a hurricane mooring.
She is not structurally hurricane damaged.
The solar panels were damaged and have been renewed, including the controllers.
The VHF aerial and wind indicators are gone.
After finishing a circumnavigation the yacht has not been used for a few years and is very dirty outside both below and above the waterline.

She is in a spiderweb of ropes and there will be no seatrial possible within this short timespan.
Everything else on the boat is functional but could be renewed for better performance, as with any boat this age.

Re: Lagoon TPI 42 new engines 39hp each!

I hope this is a private sale. The st croix broker, that had the boat pictured (VINGA) listed back in 2007 or 2008 is not someone I'd trust. (I'm trying to be polite) We offered asking price, when he said there were no other offers on the table, then two hours later, it was mysteriously sold. I questioned him extensively, but never got an answer of how this mysterious offer materialized. He never mentioned other brokers...nothing. I would councel anyone to avoid dealing with that person.

I have often regretted not contacting the heirs, selling the boat, to let them know of our offer, then taking legal action against the broker.

It looks like a good deal, again, so move quickly.

Good luck in your sale.
Paul.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you found another good boat.
I am not that broker. I am just assisting the owner with hopefully a quick sale. Owner will personally show the boat.
I know a lot about the TPI 's, had one myself, and think they are great cruising cats.

So is it open to offers seeing you are being polite in stating it’s in exceptionally shocking condition, a test sail is out of the question, basically cannot be inspected on the hard etc... or is it going to continue to degrade on its hurricane mooring?... asking for a friend

That boat was listed after this ad with the Multihull Co I think. It's not on their site or YW so maybe it sold.

The yacht is still for sale, she is in fair condition. Definitely needs new antifouling and the hulls cleaned and polished.

Why is the boat a filthy mess? Is owner lazy?

Re: Lagoon TPI 42 new engines 39hp each!

The boat is currently located in the Caribbean after a circumnavigation. Antifouling has not been applied during the last 2 years. So there will be quite some growth. This tends to happen in the Caribbean. I personally would not call that filthy or shocking.

Yacht brokers are the waterline scum of the marine industry.

That's often true. It certainly was true of this one.

I totally disagree with you,

I brought my boat in Annapolis, MD, to sell it and we sold it in less than 5 days at the price expected.
These guy work hard, they pay high marketing fees to advertise your boat, are available 7 days a week, do all the paperwork for you and save you numerous trips to show your boat.
Even if their commission seems high at first, they deserve their salary because they invest a lot of time and hard work .

Re: Lagoon TPI 42 new engines 39hp each!

I'm glad you had a good experience.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the norm.

Many are rarely available, seldom answer calls or e-mails, know nothing about the boats they represent, and definitely don't appear to be working hard at anything.

Though I don't think they're all bad, there seem to be many that are.

Cheers.
Paul.
