Classic Trailerable Houseboat

Land n' Sea, 1971, 28', very seawothy, just had a marine mechanic go thru all the mechanical systems. OMC sterndrive, Chevy 350. On a very nice tandem trailer, new tires, new brakes, ready to cross the country. Can demo in Lake Mead, Los Vegas, NV. PM or email for price, thanks! Dan

Hi Dan,

Cool setup. I've seen these on lakes around N Georgia

One thing, forum rules specify you must include the price of anything you post for sale here.

Re: Classic Trailerable Houseboat

Hi, thanks for the note and advice! I'm new to the forum. I'm asking $9500.00 for the boat, including the trailer. There were only a few hundred of these made, I was told, so they are rather rare. What is great about these Land n' Sea camper boats is that they are solid fiberglass on the inside-- no plywood to rot with age like other contemporary models like the Sea Camper, etc.

Re: Classic Trailerable Houseboat

Hi Dan,

To be honest, the rules for posting an ad are not that obvious. They are in a file at the top of the page when you go to the classified forum. Easy to overlook, just ask me how I know.

An all glass boat does have that advantage over those made with wood or plywood, even when encapsulated with glass. Rot is a very common problem in older boats, again ask me how I know.

Not sure if this is the best place to sell it since the focus here is mainly cruising boats and more focused on ocean but definitely not the exclusive audience on the forum.

You might try craigslist in some of the areas that have large lakes as another option, if you can deal with the scammers that will contact you offering to pay with phony cashiers checks.

Good luck.

Re: Classic Trailerable Houseboat

By the way, what is the total wt of the boat and trailer? Just occurred to me that we've been looking at campers but you wouldn't have to put this one in the water to camp in it. plus it would float.

From Las Wages I assume it's been a freshwater boat? Any idea how many hours on the engine?

Re: Classic Trailerable Houseboat

According to the factory spec, this boat weighs 5200 lbs dry, I'm not sure of the trailer weight, but it has 4 wheel brakes and is very solid, but not overly heavy. I tow it with my Toyota Tundra, super easy to pull and stop, even loaded up for travel. As for the camper application, that's exactly the purpose. The transom had fold-down steps so that, while on the trailer, it is easy to enter the boat from the rear. It's design is for "land" camping as a travel trailer that sleeps up to 7. Then... A houseboat on the "sea" or lake. Hence, Land n' Sea is its appropriate moniker.

Only 84 hours on the engine. I bought it from an elderly couple who couldn't use it for the last several years due to illness. I was told they were the original owners, and kept it up pretty well under covered storage.

Here is a link to a fun low-tech video made in the 70's about this amazing boat. There is quite a cult following for this classic Trailerable Houseboat, with some decent documentation available
