Re: 43 foot Bruce Roberts

Why a PM?
I don't fault the low ballers, just do it politely, and maybe in a PM...not so publicly.
It appears to have a snide remark in the first place.

Since I first looked for a boat about 15 years ago I've seen a good number of boats that started with the asking price price of $30K or thereabouts only to be finally, after years on the market, donated to a charity. Now tell me if any of those were not worth $5K.

I'll repeat - offering $5K for a boat that's worth $20-30K is no more of a joke than asking $20-30K for a boat that's worth $5K. But at the end it is worth what the next owner paid for it.

I would say, as this thread was about the boat listed, $5000 for that boat would fall under charity IMO, if that’s all someone can afford they should probably come across much nicer as they are asking for others charity/hand outs.

I can't help it, a posting, how about 5K is not snide when the OP presented a good opener at 60 possibly 55. Maybe that 5K should have been a PM. I think it was a smart ass post. JMHO

Have you heard of RAN sailing YouTube channel? They are looking for a bigger boat as they sold their 40 ft sailboat. They are from Sweden. It might be a long shot. How many cabins do you have? Do you have a separate shower space from the toilet. I know these are what they are looking for

Could not have said it better!!!

I have been to view many, many boats that the owners have assured me are in excellent, pristine, bristol condition...only to find a terrible mess of what can only be called a project boat at best. Unfortunately, sellers sometimes only see the price they paid for the boat, PLUS all the money they spent on it, and figure that sum is a fair price.

If I sound skeptical and a bit angry, its because I am. I spent many hours (and wasted days) driving to see boats this past summer that were clearly $5k boats asking $30k.

Here's a Bruce Roberts 36 for half your offer:

Not a bad boat, seriously. Don't believe the nay-sayers...you can get a decent boat without breaking the bank.

Could it be real world you’re looking for a 60k boat for 30k?

We used to have a word for our friends up north, whistling gophers

They’d look at a car, say a tundra for 30k,
“Oh what’s that gofer?”

“It’s 30k”

“[whistles]”

Funny thing is I could have listed the 30k truck for 20k and got the same reaction.

End of the day buyers will always want to pay the least and sellers will always want to most, nature of the negotiations, that said unless the OP used old photos and his boat sunk and just got hauled back up, it’s worth welllllll over 5k.

Re: 43 foot Bruce Roberts

I'm a trawler guy these days and not looking for a new boat. But I have to say, 43-feet is a lot of boat for $60k. Seems fairly priced, though I realize she's in a far off land and will need a special buyer. She seems like she will take good care of her next owners. Gotta love steel boats. Best success.
