Want To Buy: 31-35ft sailboat located in Mexico/Sea of Cortez under $14k

Hey all,

Am looking for a sailboat in the 31-35 foot range that my significant other and I can sail around Mexico/Sea of Cortez this season and hopefully following seasons.

We were planning on buying a boat in the Caribbean in February, however, after arriving to the boat, the owner felt he could further increase the price and demand we pay more. That turned us away from sailing all together and we packed our backpacks and have spent the last 6 months backpacking Europe.

We are coming close to an end on our trip in Europe(September we return to the USA) and we have enough cash to still purchase a boat, and with hurricane season coming to an end, we feel we should step back into the cruising aspect.

If you have or know of any boats for sale in the area, please let me know! I am hoping i can head down to Mexico for 3-5 days in the first week of September after I return to look at boats and hopefully make an offer - pending survey/sea trial!

there are boats everywhere in mexico. thing is for the good deals you must be here. not remotely located. right here. not merely la paz. mexico is a huge nation.

Looking for same for myself as we start our documentary film company and are here already. Last few days have changed options and now we are trying to figure out best way to find those deals besides just combing each marina. Few tries through brokers unsuccessful.

mazatlan and pv and guaymas and san carlos are best for searching for boats... sometimes la paz.
i dont know any in that size range for sale immediately.
must take a vacation at end of high season to find good deals. march thru june.

I have a Balboa 27 in San Carlos that I plan to put on the market in December.

Check out San Carlos Yacht Sales. There are a lot of monohulls for sale in San Carlos. In my experience they sell for 1/2-1/3 of the price listed. Good Luck! This time last year, I saw quite a few very nice monohulls at good prices. i'm looking for a catamaran, so they weren't for me.

I suggest you look at the local Craigslist ads. Many boats in this range. Try LA, Orange county, San Diego, etc. Some are in good condition, others require work.
