2006 Leopard 40

Sea Monkey is a 2006 Leopard 40. She has had smart and practical upgrades and has evolved into a well sorted family cruising boat. She’s awesome, and she’d love to find a new owner to continue her journeys with! Perfect for a couple or a family of 4 or 5. Big enough to fit everyone, but not so huge as to be a handful for a small crew. Plus, she sails pretty quickly!

4 cabin, 2 head (with separate shower stalls) arrangement.
Volvo D1-30 engines have 1530 hours, (she was repowered with new engines and new saildrives in 2013.)
Solar: 1140W via 4 panels
Lifeline AGM batteries, 630aH.
Cruise R/O watermaker makes 20 GPH.
200 gallons of fresh water tankage.
The fridge is cool, the freezer can make ice, and there is a supplemental Engel freezer.
New standing rigging in 2015.
New mainsail in 2015, genoa in 2018.
New main and jib sheets in 2018.
Additional ports in the front salon windows greatly improve ventilation.
Rain shields on side ports allow you to keep windows open during weather.
Sorry, no A/C.

Everything you need is included such as USB ports, lots of spares, and all the tools. Kitchen supplies, linens, small inverter, even an backup French Press stay with the boat. She's totally turnkey, ready to sail away, and US registered.

*More detailed specs are included below.*

***Important note: The Volvo engines are running strong, no issues, low hours. They’re great just like they are, BUT great news, these engines are covered by a voluntary Volvo recall related to emissions. So….Volvo is shipping us brand new D1-30s that will be installed in Fort Lauderdale at the end of May. Thus, you’re buying a used boat with brand new, immaculate, and awesome engines!

She looks nice. I’m curious about a couple of things: I presume you pulled out the stock Northern Lights gen? Why, and does the little Honda get the job done for you? What limitations have you found from having only 2kw? I also presume Air con is a no-go except for shore power? Lastly, you don’t mention an inverter?

Re: 2006 Leopard 40

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comments.
Unfortunately, she doesn't have A/C. There are circuits on the panel for air-con, but she does not have A/c nor a Northern Lights genset. I don't think she ever had either, but rather started out as a rather humble boat in 2006. A/C was on my wife's "must have" list, but with the steady breezes this year she actually hasn't missed it.

A previous owner added the Honda 2000 to support the 110 draw of the watermaker. This is a standard addition with the Cruise R/O unit, as the Honda is considered much cheaper, much less finicky, and much easier and cheaper to repair. I try not to be opinionated about boat decisions (there are plenty of opinions out there!) but in *my experience* our little Honda soldiers along with no complaint, while our friends on a newer L450 and on a Leopard 46s have had to divert here and there to try to search out lift pumps and generator parts for their setups.

Inverter: there is a small inverter suitable for running kitchen appliances and charging laptops, etc. Otherwise 110V power flows from the outlets when the generator runs.
