There is a saying here:

Rio revuelto buena pesca.

Turbulent rivers make for good fishing!

Plus the fact that one dollar will buy you more than two million bolivars, makes cheap labour available to keep the boat beautiful and capable of long ocean passages.

Re: 1995 Dynamique 80 "Pawnee"

If she were about 600k cheaper I could certainly do that! Does one need any special licensing/ certification to operate an 80 ft boat for personal use? I know for a 60 footer they gave me keys and said have at it! But seems like I read at 80 ft the powers that be want some official training certificates.

Re: 1995 Dynamique 80 "Pawnee"

I never needed papers on the high seas (except in the head). Hard currency is very useful in port, as well as for buying boats.

Re: 1995 Dynamique 80 "Pawnee"

Yes, the boat is still for sale.
Right now she is in Venezuela, but I will be taking her to St Maarten, W.I. in January and staying there for a while.

Easier to visit!
