1990 STARRATT 45 Project

I am finally listing my Starratt 45 for the first time. Have no doubts that this is a project, yet, this vessel is very restorable. I built her from a bare hull and deck from 1990 to 1992. I was also on the crew that built the hull and deck. During the 80's I worked for Endeavor Yachts, Kiwi Boats, and Voyager Marine, while building a SeaRunner trimaran from scratch. Storm surge from Hurricane Ivan in 2004 brought her ashore, upright leaning against huge trees. There was relatively little damage. She was refloated, hauled out and trucked to my home in Pensacola, FL, where she has been sitting since 2004. I have owned two other larger sailboats in that time, and no longer have any interest in starting a restoration. The boat is nearly complete. All damage is relatively easily repaired. The entire rig is nearly perfect, the Perkins 4108 diesel turns. The cushions have been in air conditioned storage the whole time. The rig, except for roller furling has been in a warehouse for the last 8 years. How about 12 grand? Anyone interested? If not, then I have the rig - mast, boom, stainless wire rigging, etc. available... Call 850-232-9246. Cheers from a retired Navy Commander...photos may be of the wrong boat till I can transfer from ipad

Sounds like a cool boat. I'm interested. Just texted you. If you could send me a few pics, that would be great.

Thanks

Guys,
Yes, That photo is of my Cigale 16. The Starratt photos did not upload. I don’t have the faintest idea how to delete the ad, or change the photos. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I always liked the Starratt's; almost bought one at one point. Nice hull design and really pretty boat, especially ketch rigged. Someone with some time and skills will get a great boat

Well, the Cigale 16 is my dream boat, so I don't mind the photo I just love the under cockpit salon and speed potential. Good choice!

Re: 1990 STARRATT 45 Project

Guys, with having listed this boat in various local and craigslist ads - no one was interested! A couple people called, but no one ever came out to take a look. Tirhalle was a complete boat and I was only asking ten grand, a price that would have been negotiable, had anyone asked. I built this boat thirty years ago, and, with no one showing any interest, I personally cut her up, filling two construction dumpsters. I sold the Perkins engine to a local guy, and still have the entire rig for sale. The rig is essentially perfect, a 59’ mast that has been in my warehouse for the last ten years, and the cables have been warehoused for 15 years. The new boat, my Cigale 16 is well in work, getting many significant voyaging modifications, such as two full width watertight bulkheads with four dog watertight doors. Life goes on, long live Tirhalle!

Re: 1990 STARRATT 45 Project

That's a shame, Dr No... a potentially very nice, biggish cruising boat gone to dumpster heaven. Not my cuppa tea, but a pretty boat and well within the design parameters favored by many wanna be cruisers. I'm surprised and saddened by this news. It must have hurt to saw her up... not sure I could have done that!

Meanwhile, finish up the Cigale and join us out here cruising.

Jim

Re: 1990 STARRATT 45 Project

Jim, yes, it was rather disheartening to cut her up, but after fifteen years of sitting there, she was in worse shape than I originally realized. This was one of those times where the only reasonable action was to cut my losses and move ahead in life in a positive direction. Thank you for the interest. Cheers!
