Re: The new Leopard 45!!

Looks nice! The forward cockpit looks a lot less obtrusive. Heard it was going to have a forward galley like the L40

Ahhhhh. so that's what makes it worth the 500k price tag. I gotta have one with the lounge area. Do they still sail like bricks ?

It's a forward cockpit. Factor has a problem with the words " forward cockpit". It's his pet peeve. It's all semantics. He will be quick to point out that semantics is the study of the meaning of words but he never sites the entire definition which is - the meaning of words as it changes in context during the course of time. All boat manufacturers and the general sailing public and all sailing publications refer to this area as the forward cockpit.
As to sailing like a brick –
If you want a performance catamaran then Leopard, Lagooon or the FPs are not the place to look. I have no idea why people continue to criticize the sailing capabilities of cruising catamarans. Speed is not what they're built for.

Cockpit-lounge. Lounge-cockpit.

Who cares? Its got a place at the front and a place at the back.

Either you like it or you don't.

Because you can have both, you can get a reasonable sailing cat that is also a reasonable cruising cat. The block of flats/flybridge/forwardlounge approach is not the only one.

Perhaps it's just me..but for the sake of the unschooled, like myself, when I hear "cockpit", I think that there is a helm there. Is that just me?

Re: The new Leopard 45!!

Does the new 45 have the same hulls as the 44 and a new deck and superstructure?
Where are the details coming form, I can't see anything on the Leopard website?

Re: The new Leopard 45!!

I think only monos really have cockpits, Catamarans have lounges, helm stations, and Saloons😀

I honestly was not talking about speed. They are cruising vessels and not racers. Their inability to sail to weather was what I meant. Maybe rename them as motorsailers??
