No 46? Is that out of production now because of the 44?

They still list the 46. Just did not have a show special.

Re: Leopards 2012 Newport Boat Show Price List

I believe there will be a very well designed 48ft Leopard on the market soon, Apparently this 48ft will not only kill the smaller local manufaturers in South Africa but demolish the French competitor models from a performance and good all round luxury cruiser point of view. Exciting times ahead for Leopard

CATMAR,

Maybe you could share a little bit more about the Leopard 48 with us?

Boat show discounts look good in ads but I would expect a 10% discount on new anyway.

Asaik, 48 left Cape Town together with a new 58 for boat show">Annapolis boat show. Should be an interesting Leopard dock this year.

Will they achieve that with a Balsa cored hull? Or is this one going to be foam like the rest of the world?

Not sure if you are linked to Leopard. If you are a little humility is normally a good thing, for me a comment like that is a complete turnoff and arrogant. Rather highlight the positive points of your product and let the customer decide for himself.

Re: Leopards 2012 Newport Boat Show Price List

Interesting prices. Thanks for sharing.

In an attempt to boost the morale of our US friends, I'll share some of the "special" prices listed for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show held in Queensland this May. The 37.5 ft "Leopard 39" was A$485k. That's correct, over US$500k, half a mill!

By comparison, the 39 ft Fountaine Pajot "Lipari 41" was a steal at A$514k, for the basic "sail away" package and only A$595k for the "fully optioned" Blue Water Package.

Yes, it costs more to get a French boat to Australia than US east coast, but not more to deliver a cat by sail from Capetown SA.

Are we Aussies being ripped off?

Aussie boat prices

Hey Tuskie,

Regarding boat prices in Australia when you actually dig deeper you will discover how the associated costs add up when importing any boat.

The reality is that from a factory base price, plus freight / delivery / duties / GST / commissioning etc plus all additional optional extras essential for cruising that many imports stack up when ordering a new boat

If you plan to cruise offshore before importing back home ( Australia ) it can be a great option to pick up ex factory . You potentially save on the delivery and taxes upfront and you will have great fun experiencing a cruising adventure of a life time. When you arrive and import back home you will pay import charges .

Ask the dealers for a line item option spreadsheet from the factory to Australia if you plan to buy new so you can see the costs involved . You might be surprised

Re: Leopards 2012 Newport Boat Show Price List

Ozcat makes a good point, to compare prices you need to make sure you are comparing like for like. I know when I bought a boat and was looking around lagoon seemed to be the worst in terms of quoted vs actual price. They had so many charges, if I remember to get the boat to the water with antifoul and an anchor cost over Eur10 000. In addition the base boat was seriously "base". If you wanted basic items like a helm seat, backrests, dinghy davits, upper storage in galley etc it was a further Eur17 000. I quickly learnt what seemed cheap was not necessarily so and compared all boats to exactly the same spec.

Re: Leopards 2012 Newport Boat Show Price List

I was negotiating with Leopard for a 44 recently and can tell you that they are offering a lot more discount than $40k.
They have very many unsold boats on their books and their financial year ends September 30th so are keen to offload them.
This is a good time to get a good deal from Leopard.
They have a problem because the drop in demand for charter holidays and the lack of financing available for owners means they are producing more boats than they are selling. That obviously can't last for long. They either cut production or cut prices to balance things out again.
