Leopard 40 USCG Measurements

I need to fill out the USCG Vessel Documentation Measurement form for a Leopard 40 and figure that others have had to do this. If you have the measurements you used, could you share them? Thanks!

Not according to the reply I received from the Vessel Doc Center. They included form CG-5397, "Application for Simplified Measurement" for reporting the approximate measurements.

I just recalled that there's a Leopard 40 on the hard nearby, so I can get the two measurements that I need for the form.

Seems the Coasties would be smart to keep a database of all production boats measurements.

Re: Leopard 40 USCG Measurements

Their letter surprised me too. I was sure that they would have the dimensions and net tonnage of all production boats in a database.

They also surprised me with a request to have the bill of sale notarized by a US official or notary. The seller is Canadian. There's a waiver process that I'm investigating. Seems like they should take a Canadian notary's signature, which I submitted. Sigh.

CG does not look up data. You should have no trouble getting Leopard to send you the certificate you need. They probably keep data by hull number - just ask.

Otherwise, You can access the NOAA registration site. Boat data shows what you need. Office of Science and Technology

You can look up the data for any documented vessel here. I found this particularly useful when a terminally ignorant and arogant stink-pot driver bent a few rules in front of us finishing by nearly cutting two kayacks in half. I took a photo of his transom, looked up critical data and did a Google search so I could contact & detail for him what he had done; that I had witnesses and photos and was seriously considering sending it all to the local CG station.
