Leopard 42: Beaching a Leopard 42 catamaran

Hi, has anyone out there had experience of beaching a Leopard 42? Were they designed to be beached, how do they sit when the water drains away, any issues I need to consider? Any advise much appreciated. Thanks

No experience with a Leopard, but have beached a 44' cat. Some obvious things, Inspect the bottom first, make sure you've got a kedge set. Even small wave action can pound the hulls badly, and walk the cat up the beach. May not be able to float it off.

Check your tide tables! Make sure you don't put it up on the high spring, or you'll be waiting around for awhile to get it off.

Sorry I have come to this so that but just in case anyone else reads it. I own a Leopard 42 and used to keep it in the UK in the Bristol Channel. You have to dry out here as the tidal range is the second highest in the world.

No problem at all drying her out, and we never experienced any issues with pounding, she sits down quickly and easily. Usually we where on a mooring with fore and aft lines but we would do the same thing with twin anchors. The rudders and propellors are always well clear.

The only thing to be aware of is that if you are on sand that is reasonable firm she will lie bow down (because of the design of the keels) so if there is any slope then you want to take advantage of it. On mud of course it is not a problem. I think the idea is that you would go bows onto a beach

Don't know the 42" but did a 45" delivery to Alvor/Algarve, no problem at all. She sat down on sandy ground and came up well without scratches.
