Wonderful. Make sure you clean your boat completely. Flush the bilges or suck the air out....

Wow! Thanks for the info, I've never heard about that before!

I'm not the least bit interested in getting poisoned by a nanny state without my consent. I wonder how much they'll charge me for that privilege?

I just read a news article about the lawsuit brought by former and current flight crews claiming that the pesticides sprayed on every flight into Oz lead to Parkinson's disease. How tragic to be poisoned by your own government.

I won't be going to Australia.

Re: Yet Another Fee Hike in Oz

This is hilarious...

I was gonna go watch Netflix but this is way better...

I've been getting sprayed a couple times a year since the 70's. I always thought it was Bulls-hit repellent in case I was attacked by an Aussie bull or something.

You go to Oz, you get sprayed, taxed and your food confiscated...

Don't go. Stay home. Live in a bubble house - safer

Re: Yet Another Fee Hike in Oz

Anchored in a little bay in the Whitsundays at the moment after a 5 metre close encounter with humpback and calf followed by a couple of coldies and a steak on the BBQ.
Looked up saw an international flight headed for Brisbane and realised it was probably spray the tourist and returning Aussies time.
Just realised there are probably more international entries on that plane than foreign cruisers for the year.Think I ll send an Email to the Govt requesting they put a landing and customs clearance charge in place so they can give us Aussies some tax relief.
Now just how much to charge would be appropriate?

Sorry M G, you missed the boat. The guvmit already wacks a charge on every person arriving (or even departing) by air but they have craftily hidden in the ticket cost as a airport fee/tax/surcharge or whatever the current name is.

The airline pays a landing charge to the airport who have to pay a fee the guvmit wallas to be around when the folk deplane

But hey, maybe we could bump it up bit

Yep knew about the hidden charges but want something more on top and out in the open. They could actually publish it as an offset against the dramatic fall in the tourism dollar due to the collapse in the number of international cruisers that was caused by the insanley obcene inspection fees forced upon cash strapped international cruisers arriving in their own boats.
The money they make could then go into the kitty for the payment of all the successful litigation by those ,including me,who have been sprayed countless times by the airlines.

Re: Yet Another Fee Hike in Oz

Actually the more I think about it the fee for cruisers should be ten times higher but we should not tell them before they get here. When they arrive spring the real cost on them and impound their boat until paid and of course they would not be allowed to live aboard until paid in full so more revenue for the country with hotels etc.
Because these unfortunate cruisers are so cash strapped they would be forced to sell their boat at substantially lower prices than are really worth at Auction so people like me who cannot afford a yacht capable of overseas travel would be able to upgrade my boat and travel to other international destinations that do not impose entry fees .

I think it only fair that Australian yachts get reciprocal treatment in every other foreign country they enter.

Remove all their food stuffs (especially that toxic Australian butter)

Bring in the high priced dogs to slobber all over the boat.

Bring in the Canines to do the same.

Spray and charge them overtime at a high rate for the privledge of being non feral.

Australians only... mind you..... the rest of the world's yachts are treated as guests instead of lepers.....

You make it sound like Aussies don't cop that treatment.. I'm guessing they get worse treatment brining out the rubber gloves to ensure there are no duty fee purchases that exceed the limit hidden anywhere

Re: Yet Another Fee Hike in Oz

I've heard Marmite is way better than Vegemite and that the only reason there is Vegemite is because the Aussie's couldn't follow the recipe or something.

(Troll mode = Jedi)

PS - In order to try and sell it in the US they had to advertise it as something you spread on bikini girls and not bread... Wait, what?

Like Rugby, both of those traditional spreads have their origins in a masochistic ritual of sticking your nose up some strangers arse in the name of manly sporting condiments. )

Hate them both.
