Two (old) men in a small boat - 700 miles

I would for sure have a way to paddle ashore. Last week I took friends to the beach a few blocks from my home in California and I was suprised to see the ocean look like a pond. Absolutely no waves at all. But last winter we had 20 footers at the same beach. Baja is pretty variable too. Not like we see on the open ocean, but it can get very gusty and choppy. I don't know how available they are, but I got a free folboat because the seats were missing recently.
