Spanish Wells, Bahamas

Looking for advice entering Spanish Wells from the south, from Northeast Providence Channel past Egg Island to Russel Island with 5' draft. Appreciate hearing from those who have personally made the passage and have experience in that area.

20 years ago I did it. Follow the guide book exactly. No problem. At one point it said something like "get so close to shore you can almost touch it and we did. As I sailed more and more of the Bahamas, watch for the shipping barges tracks and that's the deepest water. Great place, hope to get back there this winter. Finally.

Captain Chuck, we recently did the reverse route (with an overnight stay @ Royal Island). If you have the charts it is pretty straightforward. Keep a bit closer to Egg Island and just read the water all the way to Spanish Wells. 5' draft will be no problem.

Neat little town, and I do mean NEAT. Not a scrap of litter anywhere. Not a thing open on Sunday.

also trying for some reasonable accurate tide information. What is the offset from Nassau or the western Eleuthera tide station? The guides are a bit uncertainand thanks for any assistance.

Just there a couple months ago. Plenty of good water. If you do decide to stop at Royal Island, be advised they have 24 hour security guards who are intstructed to keep anyone from going ashore. Still a nice anchorage, and they have not (yet) tried to run folks out of it, but the developers have gone all out in marketing the place and don't want anyone around that would seem to bring down the value.

We did (briefly) go ashore, leading to conversation with said security guard. While we were there the owners were importing a Hinkley runabout rumored to be $1,000,000.00 to shuttle the prospective buyers around.

Spanish Wells was a nice stop, we stayed one night at panish Wells boat Haven (I think that was the name) for water and showers... one of the only places in the out islands we did not pay extra for water. We then spent a few days on the moorings there, (Cinnabar).

Great stop, good place to provision and get any repairs / parts needed.
