Southwest Florida Marinas

We are new to the Forum and will be purchasing our Catamaran in the next 12 months. We are interested in a southwest Florida (Sarasota to Punta Gorda area) marina to dock our cat for the first year or so as we transition to a more sailing oriented lifestyle. We would like a nice marina - Burnt Store Marina is one we have found - but are searching for other recommendations. Thank you for your time!

If you come a little further north to St Pete, I highly recommend Pasadena Marina

Burnt store is ok but there is nothing there but the marina. Look at fishermans villiage marina for close to town, restaurants and other diversions. Maybe one of the gasperilla area marinas like uncle henrys ( but you need to rent a cart) or go into pine island sound and stay on one of these island marinas. South seas.. Top quality.. If nothing else plan to overnight in most of these to get the feel of the area. Take bicycles if possible. Island hop and tour them.

Re: Southwest Florida Marinas

I second Sailsman10 recommendation for Fisherman's Village Marina. Burnstore is too far from civilization for me (About nine miles from Punta Gorda stores). The services and restaurants are also very expensive.

Fisherman's Village has free Wi-Fi, free at the dock sewer pump outs, garbage cans at every dock, a cruisers lounge, a swimming pool, fuel dock, free bicycles, tennis courts and is only about two miles from the supermarket and about a mile form West Marine.

It is right next to Fisherman's Village, which has a number of restaurants and lots of shopping opportunities.

We lived there for a little over a month while waiting on the house to close. The staff was great and we love Punta Gorda.

I'm just south at the Ft Myers Yacht Basin. It is a little further down but is protected and Downtown is right off of the dock.
