Is this Doable??

Ok folks, I want to go from Tennessee to the gulf via the Ten-Tom river.
I have a 1999 Bayliner 2655 Ciera with a mercruiser 5.7 350 petrol engine.
Does anyone know if this boat is capable of making it marina to marina to refuel without running out of gas? It has a 70 gallon fuel tank.

Am I crazy to think I can do this in this boat?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi, here is my estimate. According to Bayliner*265 Cruiser (2004-2009)*2005* Reviews, performance, compare, price, warranty, specs,Reports,Specifications Layout, video | BoatTEST.com your boat will get 2.6 miles to the gallon at cruising speed of 25knts. The Ten-Tom is 234 miles. You would need absolute minimuim of 90 gallons to make that trip. You'll need more if you are not able to maintain cruising speed, and then some additional fuel for a margin. In short, No. You will not make the trip on a single tank of fuel.

Yeah, but what does the fuel consumption drop to if you do something like 8 knots?

Could I not fill up at the Marinas along the way? I guess I need to do a little research to find out the longest distance from marina to marina.

What speeds are allowed on the Ten Tom? I'm guessing you wouldn't be going at full plane all the time, in any case.

from tenntom.org has a map of marinas.

If you're feeling adventurous, why not strap a couple of 44 gallon fire-drums, er, I meant fuel-drums, on deck? Hand-pump & hose, no smoking unfortunately. Or, a few Jerry-cans...
