Getting to Uruguay

A friend has asked me to come to Uruguay for a few months and it sounds like the perfect opportunity to test my sea legs again. Looking for suggestions and info on getting to Uruguay from Charleston What kinds of costs, time, visas do I need to anticipate? Suggestions on routes? Once in Uruguay, what are the local laws like and what should I expect when docking?

Re: Getting to Uruguay

from charleston nc you really want to cross the atlantic in may to the canary islands, then head south to west africa, continue south till about 30 degrees south before laying a course for southern brazil, once landfall is made continue south till you reach uruguay.

check The global site for cruising sailors — Noonsite for recent marina info, but i belive it is quite expensive
