AICW and Chesapeake Bay

Looking for suggestions if you have a favorite/best "Cruising guide" publications for the Atlantic ICW and the Chesapeake Bay

Thanks for your help

Re: AICW and Chesapeake Bay

I grew up on the Bay and the best cruising guide I've seen on it is Shellenberger's "Cruising the Chesapeake - a gunkholer's guide". - especially if you usually skip the marinas....

My choice for both would be the Waterway Guides.

Of course there are others and I generally read anything I can get a hold of. The one mentioned above is pretty good for the Chesapeake Bay.

Re: AICW and Chesapeake Bay

Capt. Ron, Our choices over the years have been Waterway Guide and John Kettlewell's Chartguide. And of course our own anchorage guides for the ICW from Hampton Roads to Key West and our Chesapeake Bay edition. Our guides are the perfect companion to your favorite cruising guide. There are others of course, but these have been the most detailed and consistent over the years. Chuck

Re: AICW and Chesapeake Bay

Anchorage Guy's guides are good as well. If you buy five books covering the same area, each will have suggestions that the others miss.

active captain shows anchorages as well as marinas and you can read reviews of any of these places by people who have used them (or not in some cases). Just take these reviews with a grain or two of salt.
