The South Pacific and El Niño

Hi all,
As a weak El Niño is getting more and more likely I was wondering if some of you have experience and knowledge on how this really can effect the South Pacific during the month may to December and what will be the changes we can experience?
For the background we will starting sailing in may from Tahiti towards Tonga and most likely NZ in the end.

Nice quote: Don Radcliffe summed it up brilliantly I went across the South Pacific twice--once in an El Nino year. I had too much wind, too little wind, just right wind, rain, sunny days, wind the wrong direction, cyclone threats--both times. I had a fantastic trip--both times!

Many thanks

so mets are calling the COLD current of south america el nino now, eh?> most interesting, as el nino involves a hot current off south america and no sign exists yet of that.
