St Martin pictures after Irma

IRMA a valaha látott legerősebb hurrikán! 30 db fotó - HAJOZAS.HU

I found this site that has the most images from St Martin after Irma, it focuses on boats. It breaks my heart.

The super yacht on the first photo, looks like the one you can see at 2:32 in this Sailing Mischief video:

At first I was troubled by the fact they set up a gofund me. But then I thought, if someone lost their land based home in a storm and did this, I wouldn't think twice about it. I hope they teach their goal and are able to continue the cruising lifestyle that we all dream about but I won't be donating.

I was looking at the pier they tied to. Didn't they say they expected 20 ft waves? Those piers needed to be like 18 feet tall to allow the vessel to rise with the surge and waves. I am not sure if it is legal, however I think the better option may have been to set their vessel adrift with all hatches closed tight and then go find the vessel if it survived.

Ouch, the comments section of their gofundme is harsh!

I haven't watched any of their stuff as the internet is spotty here, but did they really leave Grenada to go to St Martin in the past couple of weeks? Horrible that they lost their boat over the mistake.

I have a boat been waiting to go cruising but I have to work to save the funds for voyage. Maybe I should start a gofund me so I could quite work and have someone else pay for crusing cost.

Re: St Martin pictures after Irma

After seeing all those pictures and so much damage, it blows my mind to see how so many boats survived and how many seem to have miner damage. Kind of like in the fires out here in the southwest USA, thousands of acres burned, and one home in the middle of it all, is undamaged! A few trees here, and patch of grass there. Also, considering the size and power of the hurricane, and the number of people caught in it, how relatively few people have lost their lives! Someone must be looking out for us! Against something like this, it is difficult not to feel kind of small, weak and overwhelmed! Now to start taking baby steps, begin to clean up, repair and rebuild. Been there, done that!

I can't believe the comments on their YouTube page. Such gross people commenting there. Very ugly.
