Global Weather and Current Data

Is there a website where I can find good information on typical weather and current patterns for certain areas at certain times of the year? Say I want to know the temperature, prevailing winds and currents around Florida in February etc? Where would I look this info up.

Web searches are not really working for me.

Re: Global weather and current data?

Might start with the Pilot Charts published by the US government. Charts for each part of the ocean, separate chart for each month of the year showing average wind speed, direction and currents.

Try this:

PassageWeather - Sailing Weather - Marine Weather Forecasts for Sailors and Adventurers

Re: Global Weather and Current Data

Hi,

I can only find current conditions and short term forecasts on Passage Weather. Does it have other options to show information for long term forecasts or past weather? GRIB files for other months would be a nice resource.

Thanks

Re: Global Weather and Current Data

As mentioned above, pilot charts are a good start. There is a software (I believe it its named Virtual (or Visual?) Passage Planner, or alike) that repeats the data and lets you browse, plan and calculate the routes according to your boat´s performance / time of the year, etc..

If you browse some online sources like Windfinder, Windguru, Wundergound, etc. and some local mete offices sites´ they may too give you insight into statistical conditions at specific data points.
