Barnakiel started this thread previous year but I'm going there next week so started this year now. The boat I'm going to is now on it's way to Horta and the next crew including me are sceduled to depart Horta 16.4. It's a bit early to say but it seems to develope interesting weather up to 25m/s..

Re: 2018 Weather to Azores

It's been wierd weather for a long time in the Atlantic with the jet stream pointing way down south of Portugal for weeks on end now. Still shows no signs of heading back north. So all those lows track hundreds of miles further south, might be a wet and windy ride, where you going?

To Ireland, first to Cork and then to Dublin. If the weathern pattern stays the same we'll propably hit to a couple of lows on the way. Looks like 3'rd reef sailing, big boat thou, a Swan 65 old lady..

Re: 2018 Weather to Azores

Second day in Horta. Strong winds about 30 to 40kn NW to NE most of the time, yesterday might have been close to 50kn, but now it seems to settle some. Now to the Peters for a GT ..
