This is one of those cases where it's one of two possibilities: 1) the seller is hoping to suck in some idiot who doesn't know what the boat it worth, or 2) the seller is some idiot who doesn't know what the boat is worth. In my estimation, about a tenth of all the "for sale by owner" boat ads that I see fall into one of those two category. I guess it's because of the filtering that broker-sold boats go through, but only about 1 in 30 of those seem to be that far out of touch.

And, I don't have any photos to attach, but, yeah, I've seen the ads with dirty dishes in the sink, fuzzy crooked pictures, or only long-distance shots of the outside. Here in Florida, at least, there are enough boats available for sale that you really have to be bored to waste your time on any of those kinds of ads.

OOOOOR in this case folks are rendering opinions without a thorough understanding of the vessels involved.

The larger kayak goes for $2,900 new, each of the Balogh sails is $2,300 or more if they are the large ones. If those tubes came from Balogh they are double walled thick AL, add in the other kayak.... Replacement of the rig is probably $8-9 not counting the outboard.... So asking $9 is gutsy, but that is a starting point. But if one is not very familiar with the micro-cruising market this may seem foolish.

BTW price a Kruger Canoe- they are the best long distance trip boat ever! Krugers START at $5k, add some customizing and the price goes up. On the other hand if you are going to spend 12 hours or more in a small boat- day after day- one needs a boat that is well designed, well built and comfortable.

Like I said gotta know what you are looking at.

Cheers

Just depends on what you are looking for in a boat
Just have to pick the right Hobie. The Hobie 21 sc (sport cruiser) I would argue is just as capable. It has storage compartments, cooler, boom tent, and motor mount. Jib furls, the main is roller reefing and forward tramps for whatever.

John

I would much rather have a Hobie 21 sport cruiser then a couple of kayaks lashed together with aluminum poles.

No 2 is pretty cool. Just needs a bilge pump and a battery

Were the "for sale" signs put on the windows before or after it sank ?

Nice touch having that awning over the cockpit, should keep the rain out.

Gadagirl - the best thing in the photos there was the BBQ chicken breasts !

But were they organic, free range or just battery chooks (aussie term for chicken).
