Satellite Phones & Airtime | Satellite Email & Internet | Global Marine Networks This set of threads has only come up because I have been researching satellite communicators. I am frustrated because I looked at one and thought it was OK then a selling site said it was not so good so they have dropped it. I was also looking at getting the best of everything integrated. One seller sells one thing, another seller sells another thing. I did not expect globalmarinenet to be any different so was somewhat surprised to see that they cater for everything that I am looking at buying. I have not researched their products yet so can not endorse their service or ability to meet my needs. If I do and they do fulfill or exceed my expectations I will certainly post that result. So, what am I looking for. 1. Extended Wi-Fi coverage. A booster antenna obviously with access to my on board smart phone Ipad and laptop. Well actually Samsung pad s as that is looking to be my choice as soon as the life proof case is available. Next I would like a satellite communicator. With external antenna option and preferably weatherproof so it can be taken away from the vessel if required but mainly fixed aboard. They are the main things that I would purchase. Internet access, smart phone via the communicator for voice calls and SMS texting preferably with optional position reports. Easy access to grib and weather data a mustb without having to request the information except for an 'automatic' request button. Basically everything KISS That is all I can think of at the moment.

Like sailing mI'm addicted to the Internet. So as I venture away from port finding a reliable signal is key. Anything that improves the likelihood of connecting is great in my opinion.
