Re: EDO virtual instruments for sailors

Hi all!

I am just starting in this world of Nautical/Marine apps.

I have a RAYMARINE RC435 Plotter and connected to this one vía OCENAV wifi múltiplexer the EDO INSTRUMENTS app.

When I am sailing with a default route I can see some values but other not.

Here an example:

As you can see the app doesn't show TIME TO GO and WATER DEPTH.

Theorically Raymarine Plotter send these NMEA instrucctions:
GGA, GLL, RMC, VTG, GSA, GSV, PRAYA,6, XTE,
BWR, RMB, APB, WPL, RTE

What can happen?

Is it app configuration problem, obsolet nmea sentences,..?

Thanks in advanced.

Re: EDO virtual instruments for sailors

Hi Edo,

I have just started using your software and thinks its great, but have been struggling to work on the polars. I have recorded some NMEA data, but when I load it in the polar editor it says it cant load anything over 30mb, when the file was loadēd I could see the point cloud in the editor but i couldnt save it (or when I did I couldnt reload. Could you provide some step by step in the FAQ, that goes through from having NMEA to creating the polar? Any kind of manual for this would be great.

Re: EDO virtual instruments for sailors

Good luck with this....

You'll notice that the company has never posted anything at all since they created this thread. They do not answer emails either.

They did create a new version about a year ago, (which broke more than it fixed, by the way) but other than that they have maintained complete radio silence.

But they are happy to take your money...

All this is unfortunate since the bones of the program are great, and the polar data collection is the best I have seen. Unfortunately in the "new and improved" version (1.17) you can no longer save and restore the polar data. Sucks.

Its unfortunate that the iPad app is "Portrait" display only and can not be rotated into "Landscape".

Re: EDO virtual instruments for sailors

I‘ve long given up using this app. The Support is poor and the app isn’t delivering. Ie it cannot calculate twa/tws from the existing data (which isn’t transmitted by hardly any system). Same with the depth display, never worked properly and didn’t get an update for a long time. Look at iregatta!
