Adding Corian top in Antares Salon

Hi All,
Does anyone know the cost of adding corian as a new top for the cabinet above the washer/dryer side of the salon on the Antares 44i?
Also, if you have any resources for doing the work on the east coast of the USA, or in the Caribbean, please let us know too.
Thanks!

What no nibbles on this thread, the fish aren't biting.
I would suggest measuring the area you want to replace draw the pattern on a piece of paper. Take that to any Home building store that sells Corian counters, they should be able to help or even cut to shape the Corian for you. Then if you need help installing that should be easy enough.

Try and stay away from marine installers... when we re-did our galley in our DeFever, the price was 1/3 of what the best price we could do from a marine source by going with a Corian kitchen counter installer. The guy we chose was delighted to get to work on a boat as an opportunity to work on a boat rather than a land based kitchen. Good luck! Phil

check the specs of the material .. thermal expansion and contraction needs to be taken into account...

Re: Adding Corian top in Antares Salon

If you are handy or find a boat yard that has competent staff...order from www.solidsurface.com We saved a TON of money ordering from them. They also have tutorials available.

Last time I knew the big box stores will not sell to a DIY. But I did use their samples to pick out my counter top product.

Solid surface products like Corian are very similar to working with wood. Saw, router, palm sander, and polishing wheel along with patience are all you really need. The good news is, you could replace the project 5 to 10 times of what hiring a marine professional would be.

Can be done at Power Boat in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. 1/4 inch is no longer available so 3/8 is the minimum thickness. Labor in Trinidad is pretty low compared to most other places.
