It is much more applicable to a cat than a
monohull, because as long as the
panels are edge on to the
wind, and the boat's heeling is miinimal, windage is not a problem. My one 110W panel on it's aft rack, articulates, and has withstood 150 MPH
hurricane winds!
I have the panel bolted in a STOUT welded
aluminum angle frame, and for storms I have thin Kevlar down lines to keep it horizontal.
In your case, I think the aesthetics of 4
panels would be the deal breaker if there is one. It depends on what size & shape panels, and can you live with the size of it all, aesthetically?
If you go for it... I would definitely mount them into a RIGID 1/4" thick, 1.5 X 1.5" welded
aluminum frame, with multiple 2" flat bar sections welded across the frame for mounting.
Good luck,
Mark
