Xantrex "Xanbus" dead, so Victron or Mastervolt?

I bought a Xantrex RS 2000 pure sine charger/inverter in 2008 and left it boxed and dry until I did a full refit. I finally installed it with a six L-16 FLA battery bank (1,575 Ah) last summer. Worked a charm, but the SCP has "lost" contact with the charger, and reports "Standby"...this is despite receiving power from the unit (where the network light is off) and despite new cabling, etc. So I suspect the Xanbus portion is dead. I've done every form of hard reset, no dice.

As it's out of warranty, and short of opening it up to find a loose connector or other end-user-fixable, obvious repair, what is the present preference for charger inverters, Victron or Mastervolt? I am not happy at the prosepct of trashing a functional, if unconfigurable, charger/inverter, but my solar/wind and alternators setup allow off-dock equalization, and I'm not going to forego that.

Needless to say, Xantrex is off the list, which is a shame as it worked flawlessly...just for six months.

Re: Xantrex "Xanbus" dead, so Victron or Mastervolt?

Both are great brands. I went with an all Victron system:
Isolation transformer
8kva inverter charger
Separate 100a 24v charger
Remote control panels
System monitoring computer
Battery balancers (long story, new bank has a wonky cell or two that likes to get out of balance)

System has been very robust for several years and I am very happy.

Comes down to features and physical size of each component in the end.

However I would pick a brand and stick with it.

Thanks for the quick reply. We are lucky in that it's a custom boat and to a large degree we have very good access and the ability to secure gear where needed.

I will consider this a vote for Victron.

Feel free to ask anything you like and I can try to provide a user/self installer perspective

I appreciate that. I'll let you know. Ours is a 12 volt boat and I need to able to equalize the bank at anchor from solar, wind and alternator combined.

This looks like the right Victron: https://www.emarineinc.com/Victron-M...0Watt-Inverter
