Xantrex Freedom hf1000 inverter non responsive.

I just got finished aligning my engine. Towards the end of it my inverter started alarming (i think it was either e001 or e003) then it really started cutting in and out giving me a message: 0000. Now the thing is completely unresponsive. We'd been on batteries with no charging for a couple of days so I'm wondering if low voltage (as the alarms would indicate) had something to do with it. The new engine alignment also moved the engine closer to all of the battery leads which run inside the engine compartment but a once over shows no chafing or anything. It doesn't really seem like I'm getting 14 volts at the battery terminals when I run the engine either which is bothering me. Any thoughts on what it all might be?

Usually if it isn't a short, its a bad connection. However, with Xantrex, there is the possibility of the unit going bad--time to check voltages and currents.

Thanks. And I should add that we are on shore power now and nothing is happening although it will intermittently pass ac to the outlets.

Sounds like the automatic transfer switch is acting up. Do you have the manual and its troubleshooting guide?

If it's electrical 99% of the time it's the connections. Your incoming AC sounds suspect.
