Wonky depth readings form Simard IS12

Hi;

We have a Simrad IS 12 Combi display. It was purchased used a year and half ago. THe depth transducer we bought new, as it was not included.

A few months ago, the display started showing the true depth, then a much higher value, back and forth. At first, powering down then back on seemed to fix things. Now, it mostly shows the higher depth, and once in a while, the correct one.

I have checked and double checked all of the connections. Any idea on what part of the system is at fault? Display, cabling or transducer?

Thanks in advance for any help.
