Wind generator Stop turning.

Have a wind generator
Air Breeze
By. Southwest.
They dont make them any more. Worked fine for years untill recently when, for no good reason, it stops. With wind it sometimes turns for a minute or so, then the blades stop turning.

Re: Wind generator Stop turning.

That's usually the result of the battery voltage being high enough for the wind generator to brake itself. Are the batteries full when it stops? Check the documents to see if there is a regulator mode on that particular model, if there is that is likely why it is stopping.

Depending how old it is, you may need to disassemble and clean the inside of the turbine. Good video link on the eMarine site on how to do it.
I'm in the process of changing the bearings in our Rutland. A little bit of a pita, but not too bad considering the years of use.

Its dirrectly connected to the battery. Previous owner told me it auto shuts down when batteries are fully charged. They never get close to fully charged. Usually on the low side.

There is a voltage cutout adjuster screw on the outside, at the midpoint. Have you tried adjusting this?

Re: Wind generator Stop turning.

If that is the case you may have some corrosion on the regulator wires and it is not properly reading voltage from the battery. There is a good video that shows how to do a bench test, this happens to be an air silent x model but I suspect the cabling and regulator work in a similar way. Does your manual describe a bench test of any sort for troubleshooting?

Re: Wind generator Stop turning.

Your bearings are probably shot, Get it down and disassemble it.

Thanks. Could not find an electrical fault.
Noticed in the manual more that 10.5 volts is required to keep it running. My batteries are often below that. Still, when they are above, it shuts down also..
