Wind Generator Safety Gaurds

Has anyone even look at a half round safety guard for the wind genny?

I dont know if they can be brought or if you need to make them but I have read a number of dire stories about turbines and thought if you have a half round metal guard that is fixed to the genny housing so it turns with the housing and stays aligned with the blade tips.

I would love to hear what others have dont or if they just leave it and except the blades could come off.

Just 2 days ago i nearly lost the last digit of my ring finger tinkering with the gen while it was turning. We now have a rule on board to stop the gen whenever we do anything to it. I'm thinking of your idea to have a full circle protector for fingers/ head injuries, but you are right about the possibility of a blade dislodging. I'm considering a platform-type mounting beneath the blade on the cockpit side of the pole. At least it's some form of protection. Those blades carry frightening power, even in 10-12 kts. We have a 4-winds
