Wind generator mounted on monitor frame

I want to buy a wind generator and mount it onto the monitor wind vane frame using a removable system so i don't have to drill anymore holes in my deck. Has this ever been done? If so how?

Re: Wind generator mounted on monitor frame

Wouldn't want to put anymore stress on the thin gauge SS tubing of the Monitor. The tubing is known to crack at the welds on Monitors that have done a lot of miles, like more than 50,000. Would not want to add the additional load of a windmill to that. Would even be hesitant about running a brace to the vane for the pole that a windmill was mounted on.

Yeah. mount it in front of the vane... that way you can turn it around and power it from the batteries like a fan... it will steer for you... WAIT.. that's an autopilot!
